NIx Natural Area/ Fairy House building

For me this was a very special day. Wonderful area, great story, beautiful people what else can you ask for. We started out finding our hidden forest for our fairy houses. Then read the book Fairy Houses, by Tracy Kane great book it allows the magic of the woods come to life.

We had some sweet fairies of our own.
So fun yet serious fairy house constuction under way.

The above fairy house was a group effort with levels.
The kids explored the area found their spots near water, trees, twigs, fallen trees. then they started building. The one rule of the woods is to use only natural elements for the area and not to use live plants unless you do not have to pull it out to use it. These houses were constucted with twigs, bark, rocks, and anything found around them. It was a treasure to watch these children with such happiness create these lovely homes.

Happy Fairy House building,

Angela

Full Moon Spring Equinox

Please come and celebrate the wonderful Worm Full Moon and Spring Celebration. This just seemed like the perfect way to celebrate as gentle signs of spring emerge all around us. A full moon and spring together. Please bring something sweet and yummy to share or a drink or just come. I will read the book The Root Children and if anyone has interest in sharing a book, story or song PLEASE DO!!We will meet around 6pm and start our walk around 7-ish. Please come if only for the first part or hike and of course both. Then enjoy the first day of Spring walking around noticing these lovely sweet gifts as the early bulbs and start of grass emerge around us. Devils Backbone Open Space http://www.co.larimer.co.us/parks/driving_bbone.htm

This Full Moon is a Super Full Moon So please go out and enjoy the beauty as it rises in the night sky!
Full Worm Moon – March As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this Moon as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. To the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon, and was considered to be the last full Moon of winter.

Then Tomorrow go and take a walk around you neighbor and look for all the new sprouts and spring bulbs emerging from the ground.. Get down low and look. It is loads of fun for the kids. Enjoy this magical moon and Happy Spring to you all.
Happy Moon and Spring Trails,
Angela

Environmenal Learning Center nature hike

Cold, but such a beautiful hike. This is such a lovely area when of my favourites around town. Thank you to the families that made it out.. and enjoyed this walk.

I love winter shadows. It is such a wonderful time of year for shadow playing and viewing. Especially the trees with no leaves and all the shapes and lines. BEAUTY

Always have to have time for play and exploration.
Tracking animals. So much fun. This is a wonderful place to go early morning before any other hikers after snow to see the many different track marks.

some fierce animals hiding by the tree.
Such simply perfect art! Amazing the frost on the water was breath taking.

Good-bye and Happy snow Trails.
hugs,
Angela
